Geranium sits on the eighth floor of Parken, Copenhagen's national football stadium, a glass-walled dining room from where diners watch the seasons move through the crowns of the trees in Fælledparken below, with the green copper roofs of the city and, on a clear day, the windmills of the Øresund in the distance. It is run by chef Rasmus Kofoed and sommelier Søren Ledet, who first opened Geranium in 2007 and rebuilt it here after a forced closure in 2009. The restaurant holds Three MICHELIN Stars, awarded in 2016, making it the first and so far only Danish address to reach that level. In 2022 it went further still, named The World's Best Restaurant by The World's 50 Best Restaurants after a decision to drop meat from the menu entirely and build the cooking around vegetables and seafood instead. Few dining rooms anywhere combine a football stadium, a tasting menu named for the season, and that particular distinction.

Rasmus Kofoed and Søren Ledet's Three-Star restaurant above Fælledparken, once named the world's best.
01The room and the setting
The address itself is part of the story. Geranium occupies the eighth floor of the Parken stadium tower in Østerbro, and the lift to the dining room only runs shortly before and during service hours, a small ritual that signals the climb from street to canopy. The restaurant describes its own position as dinner taking place in the treetops, with Fælledparken's seasonal change visible through the glass as the meal unfolds.
Guests who want the best seat in the house can ask for the Fireplace Table, a high counter for up to four set beside the fire, overlooking both the kitchen and the park beyond. For private groups, the Inspiration Kitchen is a separate light-filled room built around an open kitchen and wine cellar, seating up to sixteen and running the same menu as the main restaurant.

02The chef
Rasmus Kofoed, born in 1974 in Birkerød, trained at the Hotel d'Angleterre on Kongens Nytorv before working under Roger Souvereyns at the two-Michelin-starred Scholteshof in Belgium. Back in Copenhagen he became head chef at Krogs Fiskerestaurant, where he met Søren Ledet, the sommelier and front-of-house director who remains his business partner at Geranium today.

Kofoed is the only chef ever to have won all three Bocuse d'Or medals, taking bronze in 2005, silver in 2007 and gold in 2011 in what is considered the toughest competition in professional cooking. That single-minded, competition-honed precision carried straight into the kitchen at Geranium, which he opened with Ledet in 2007 in Kongens Have before a backer's bankruptcy forced a closure in 2009 and a relocation to Parken in 2010.
03The cooking
The stars came quickly once the restaurant found its stride on the eighth floor: one MICHELIN Star in 2012, two in 2013, and in February 2016 a third, making Geranium the first restaurant in Denmark's history to reach that level. The style is built on organic and biodynamic produce worked into precise, sculptural plates, a language Kofoed has described as dynamic — rooted in nature's unseen forces made visible on the plate.
The biggest shift came in 2022, when Kofoed removed meat from the menu entirely, rebuilding the cooking around seafood and vegetables. The move coincided with the restaurant's highest honour yet: having placed second the year before, Geranium was named The World's Best Restaurant 2022 by The World's 50 Best Restaurants, taking the title from fellow Copenhagen address Noma. The current tasting menu, The Autumn Universe, runs for a minimum of three hours and is priced at 4,500 DKK as read on the restaurant's own site in October 2026.

04Wine and drinks
Søren Ledet's wine programme is built in tiers rather than a single pairing. Guests choose between Heart & Soil at 2,500 DKK, Classic & Appellation at 4,500 DKK, Big & Bold at 8,500 DKK, and, for those who want the cellar's rarest bottles, Rare & Unique at 20,000 DKK. A non-alcoholic route, Fruit & Vegetables, is offered at 2,300 DKK, and the full wine list can be downloaded from the restaurant's website.
05When to go and booking
Geranium opens for dinner Wednesday to Saturday from 18:00 to 23:00 on Wednesdays and 18:30 to 23:30 Thursday to Saturday, with lunch served Thursday to Saturday between 12:00 and 15:30; it is closed Sunday to Tuesday. Larger groups, and anyone who cannot find space online, are asked to contact the booking team directly by phone, Tuesday to Friday between 9:00 and 15:00, or by email.
