La Table de Mee occupies a short frontage on Rue des Ciseaux, two minutes from Les Deux Magots in Saint-Germain-des-Prés. Opened in 2022 down a discreet alley, it pairs the ease of Bistrot Mee with the gastronomic polish of Gwon's Dining, the restaurant Hyun Mee and You Chul Gwon ran on Rue Cambronne from 2006 to 2017. The couple still cook and welcome guests themselves inside a room built for twenty-four covers, where guests sit at the counter or at table with the feeling of being received in the family's own dining room, among the paintings, ceramics and books that tell their story. Spicy, soy-based Korean cooking runs through the menu – kimchi, Korean fried chicken and ssams, plus mackerel fillets simmered in a soya, chilli and white radish broth that stands out as the dish to order. It holds a MICHELIN Bib Gourmand, awarded in 2024 and renewed in 2025, and again in the 2026 MICHELIN Guide France.

Bib Gourmand Korean cooking from the family behind Bistrot Mee, with a counter facing the chef's plancha.

01The room and the setting

Inside, the interior is stripped back and dominated by wood, built around a counter where guests watch the chef work at a large plancha. The room seats only twenty-four, so the MICHELIN Guide recommends booking well ahead. Hyun Mee and You Chul Gwon receive every table themselves, the walls hung with paintings and ceramics and shelved with books tracing the family's path from Seoul to the Left Bank. There is no front-of-house beyond the couple and a small team; the effect is closer to a private dining room than a restaurant, which is why regulars describe an evening here as being received at the Gwons' own table rather than simply served at one.

02The chef

The restaurant began as an idea of You Chul Gwon's, who had discovered in France a style of gastronomic dining still rare in South Korea at the time. He and his wife Hyun Mee opened Gwon's Dining in the 15th arrondissement in 2006, hiring a Korean chef to cook a refined style of Korean food that stayed approachable for newcomers. When that chef left, Hyun Mee Gwon took over the stove herself alongside her husband, the table went on to earn a Michelin fork, and the couple built their own book of family recipes. Gwon's Dining closed in 2017; the family had already opened Bistrot Mee near the Palais-Royal in 2014, and in 2022 La Table de Mee followed on Rue des Ciseaux as the most polished expression of their cooking. Their son Hagni Gwon, a musician with the band L'Impératrice, took a sabbatical to shape the family's newest project, Mee Café, which opened at the end of summer 2026 on the same street as the bistro.

Insider tip

24 covers, booking essential; open Tuesday–Saturday, closed Sunday and Monday.

03The cooking

The cooking leans on the same spicy, soy-forward vocabulary as the family's other tables, but plated with more restraint. Mandu dumplings come filled with kimchi and pork; a plate of Ssamms wraps trimmed, doenjang-marinated pork belly in lettuce leaves; and the Godongoh Jorimm braises mackerel and white radish in a chilli-spiked soy broth, the dish the MICHELIN Guide singles out as a standout. Bibimbap, called Tchulsott here, arrives tossed tableside in a scalding metal bowl with marinated vegetables, seaweed, egg yolk and bulgogi – read on the restaurant's own menu in October 2026.

04Wine and drinks

The wine list mixes classic appellations with natural bottles, alongside Korean beer and artisanal makgeolli rice wine. The short cocktail list opens with the house 'omee soju', a semi-frozen infusion of omija berry stirred through soju, priced at €9 on the menu read in October 2026.

05When to go and booking

The restaurant opens Tuesday to Saturday, for lunch from noon to 2.30pm and dinner from 7pm to 10pm, closed Sunday and Monday. With only twenty-four seats, booking is strongly advised. The door sits a stone's throw from the café Les Deux Magots, and the nearest stops are Saint-Germain-des-Prés on line 4 and Mabillon on line 10.
