The Woodward does not try to look like a hotel. Behind its 1901 Belle Époque façade on Quai Wilson, Geneva's most exclusive address, the house reveals contemporary Pierre-Yves Rochon interiors, two floors of wellbeing built around The Guerlain Spa, and just 26 suites, almost all facing the water and the Alps beyond. From the quai, the view opens onto Lake Geneva and the French Alps, Mont Blanc included. The MICHELIN Guide gives the house Three MICHELIN Keys, and one floor up, L'Atelier Robuchon carries Two MICHELIN Stars, Geneva's only kitchen to hold the distinction. Alongside it sits Le Jardinier, the European debut of chef Alain Verzeroli's produce-driven restaurant group, and Bar 37, a piano and cocktail lounge set above the Jet d'Eau. It reads less like a hotel than a private mansion that happens to keep two of the city's most discussed tables downstairs.

01The house
The building dates to 1901, raised in post-Haussmann style by French architect François Durel on what is still Geneva's most sought-after stretch of waterfront. The Bastion Collection, the hospitality group behind the Robuchon and Jardinier brands worldwide, spent years turning the mansion into Geneva's first all-suite hotel, working with French architect and designer Pierre-Yves Rochon to re-imagine every interior while keeping the Belle Époque shell intact.
On 1 February 2025 management of the hotel passed to Auberge Collection, part of the Friedkin Group, which took on The Woodward as its first Swiss property while The Bastion Collection continued to curate the restaurants. The change brought no new bricks or glass, only a new signature over a house that was already being called one of Europe's finest addresses.

02Rooms and suites
There are no standard rooms here, only 26 suites, each with its own layout and character behind Rochon's interiors, and large picture windows that pull the lake and the Alps into the room. Suites can be joined together to form multi-bedroom apartments for families or groups who want the run of a floor.
Insider tip20 minutes by car from Geneva Airport, 10 minutes from Cornavin station; valet parking on site.
The Royal Suite is the largest in the house, with a ten-seat dining room and four balconies looking over the lake; it is one of two suites reached by a private lift, a detail that turns a stay into something closer to borrowing a private Geneva residence than checking into a hotel room.
03Where to eat
L'Atelier Robuchon is Geneva's only restaurant with Two MICHELIN Stars, built around Joël Robuchon's open-kitchen format: a 36-seat counter wrapped around the stoves, plus two private dining rooms. Executive Chef Olivier Jean, who became the youngest-ever Executive Chef in the Robuchon group's history during seven years running the kitchens in Taipei, serves lunch and dinner from Tuesday to Saturday, built on single-ingredient dishes and the theatrical precision the Robuchon name is known for.
Le Jardinier, making its European debut here after outposts in New York, Miami and Houston, was created by chef Alain Verzeroli and is run day to day by Olivier Jean. Its greenhouse-style dining room opens onto a tree-lined veranda facing the lake and the marina, with a menu built around seasonal vegetables, fruit and herbs; the MICHELIN Guide recognises it with a Plate. Pastry across both kitchens is signed by Titouan Claudet, whose desserts take their cues from nature and watchmaking.

04The bar
Bar 37 is the hotel's piano and cocktail lounge, set on a veranda that looks straight across the water to the Jet d'Eau, pouring cocktails and light bites from midday into the night. Next to it, a cigar lounge occupies the hotel's former bank vault, a reminder of Quai Wilson's history as Geneva's financial waterfront.
For a different pace, Le Comptoir Woodward, the hotel's café and patisserie, sits a short walk away in the Old Town, selling pastries from the same kitchens under Claudet's direction.
05Spa and wellbeing
Two full floors, roughly 1,200 square metres, are given over to The Guerlain Spa, where treatments for face and body follow the Parisian house's protocols inside a run of quiet, marble-lined suites, including one designed for couples. The same floors hold an indoor pool, a fitness centre and hydrotherapy areas, giving residents a reason to stay in even on a grey Geneva afternoon. Members of Club Woodward, the hotel's residents' club, get standing access to the whole wellness floor plus a calendar of annual privileges.
06The neighbourhood
Quai Wilson puts the hotel on the lake itself, roughly 20 minutes by car from Geneva International Airport and ten minutes from Cornavin station, with the Old Town, the Jardin Anglais and the boutiques of Rue du Rhône all within easy reach on foot or by a short taxi ride. The water view runs straight across to the French Alps, Mont Blanc visible on a clear day, which is as much the point of staying here as any single suite or restaurant.
The hotel's concierge team builds on that setting with excursions rather than city tours: sailing or swimming on the lake, tastings in the UNESCO-listed vineyards of Lavaux, a watchmaking workshop, or a session creating a personal fragrance, all pitched at guests who already know Geneva and want a reason to look at it differently.
