On a low cliff above Alporchinhos, a short walk from the pottery kilns of Porches, Vila Vita Parc has been one of the Algarve's most luxurious getaways since opening in 1992, and frequent renovations have kept it looking fresh. Its lush sub-tropical gardens run down to a secluded beach, and with Portugal's first Sisley spa, a golf course, a beach club, six stylish bars and ten excellent restaurants, including the two-MICHELIN-star Ocean, the resort is a destination in itself. The MICHELIN Guide now places Vila Vita Parc among just two hotels in the country awarded Three MICHELIN Keys, while at its cliff-top Ocean restaurant, Austrian chef Hans Neuner crafts seasonal menus that trace the routes of the Portuguese caravels. A second restaurant, Atlântico, carries a MICHELIN Plate.

MICHELIN Guide
Three MICHELIN Keys

Three MICHELIN Keys, a two-starred restaurant and Portugal's first Sisley Paris spa, on 22 hectares of gardens.

01The house

Vila Vita Parc opened its first 60 suites around a clubhouse, tennis courts and a piazzetta in 1992; the main hotel building and a 29-room cliff-top Residence, which later became home to Ocean, followed within the year. The resort joined The Leading Hotels of the World in 1995 and has rebuilt itself in phases ever since, with a long refurbishment between 2012 and 2018 renewing the Oasis Parc suites, the main building's rooms, the Residence and the cliff-top villas, ending with the new Sisley spa.

Crisp whitewashed buildings house rooms, suites, and villas with spacious layouts, gleaming parquet floors, elegant blue and white decor, and charming details like traditional hand-painted pottery made in the nearby village of Porches.

02Rooms and suites

All 203 rooms, suites and villas have private outdoor terraces with views of the sea or the flower gardens; clifftop villas feature infinity pools and several levels of living and dining space. The Deluxe Ocean View rooms are split over two floors, sleeping area on one and living space on another, with a twin-sink bathroom and walk-in rain shower, each around 40 square metres.

Insider tip

Faro Airport is roughly 40 minutes away; Ocean occupies the cliff-top Residence building.

Vila Vita Parc keeps just two Penthouse Suites, each roughly 105 square metres, decorated in a single palette of Atlantic blue or coral red, with its own kitchenette and a separate service entrance for a personal butler. At the top of the adults-only Residence, the duplex Townhouse Suites sit on the cliff top with magnificent panoramas, their private balconies made for lingering over a captivating sunset.

For total seclusion, the five-bedroom villa Vila Trevo clings to the rocky coast above the Atlantic near one of the Algarve's finest beaches, its own heated infinity pool fitted with hydro-jets across three storeys and 672 square metres.

03Where to eat

Ocean, built into the cliff-top Residence, has held two Michelin stars since 2011 under chef Hans Neuner, who has headed the kitchen since 2007 and was twice named Portugal's Chef of the Year. In 2026 Neuner reopened the restaurant with Essência, a new tasting menu marking both a conclusion and a new beginning, closing a five-year cycle in which Ocean's annual menus had followed the paths of explorers, merchants and cultural exchanges that connected Portugal to Africa, Asia and the Americas, from the Azores to Brazil and Mozambique to Macau. The restaurant's recent honours include three Repsol Suns, the highest distinction in the Iberian Repsol Guide, a fourth consecutive Platinum Fork from Expresso's Boa Cama Boa Mesa guide, and first place at the Mesa Marcada awards, Portugal's most respected restaurant ranking.

Atlântico, the resort's other fine-dining room, holds a MICHELIN Plate under chef Manfred Kickmaier and reinforces the resort's sustainable philosophy, translating home-grown vegetables and typical regional ingredients into remastered traditional Algarve recipes. It shares its vaulted dining room with the resort's wine cellar, one of the largest private collections in the country, kept for tastings among the original stonework. Beyond the two fine-dining tables, the resort runs ten restaurants in total, from the Italian Giardino to the grills of the Armação Beach Club.

04The bar

Vila Vita Parc counts six stylish bars, overseen by a bar manager and his team of mixologists moving between real classics and modern twists. Poolside bars pour tropical cocktails by day, cliff-top terraces catch the sunset, and by night the V-Club disco bar brings resident and guest DJs to the dance floor — all backed by a cellar holding well over a thousand references, one of Portugal's largest private wine collections.

05Spa and wellbeing

The Vila Vita Spa by Sisley Paris, completed in 2018, is the first Sisley Paris-branded spa in Portugal, a 17,250-square-foot sanctuary inspired by the region's sea caves, its natural stone and soothing blue and green tones echoing the Atlantic beyond the windows. It holds 14 treatment rooms fitted with Gharieni treatment beds and a fitness studio with floor-to-ceiling windows for aerial yoga, power yoga and chakra meditation, alongside the Hypoxi Studio, the only one of its kind in Portugal, for body contouring, and manicures from the British brand Margaret Dabbs. The adjoining Health Club adds a sauna, steam room, ice grotto and indoor pool.

06The neighbourhood

The resort's ceramics come from Porches, the village just inland famed for its hand-painted pottery. Faro international airport is about 40 minutes away by car, making the Algarve — home to the highest concentration of MICHELIN-starred restaurants in the region — an easy base for exploring beyond the gates, from the sea caves along the coast to the inland market towns.

07Making the most of a stay

The resort's own cove is a secluded white sandy beach bordered by a dramatic rocky coastline, reached directly from the gardens, while the Armação Beach Club adds water sports, three further restaurants and palapa-shaded loungers, a short shuttle ride away. Between the pools, tennis courts, putting green and private yachts, it is easy to see why the MICHELIN Guide calls Vila Vita Parc a destination in itself.
