Théoule's signature walk: just past the village the coast turns to red volcanic rock, arbutus and broom, with clear coves to swim in.
Photo: Office de Tourisme de Théoule-sur-Mer
Time
About 1 hour there and back from the Pointe de l'Aiguille car park
Difficulty
Not graded by the tourist office: a seafront promenade, then stepped paths through the park
Start
Promenade Pradayrol in the village centre (by the Maison du Parc Maritime), or the Pointe de l'Aiguille car park on the Corniche d'Or
Past
The seafront Promenade Pradayrol and the Maison du Parc Maritime, Volcanic tuffs and caves at the base of the cliff at the end of the promenade, Pink-to-violet pyromeride 'volcanic glass' beside the steps near the needles, Four mistral-sheltered pebble coves, the natural arch and the Gardanne cave, A short climb above the Corniche to the belvedere over the gulf of La Napoule
Season
All year. The underwater trail off the Pointe de l'Aiguille beach runs mid-June to mid-September.
With children
Good with children who can manage steps: beaches at the end and a snorkelling trail in summer. Not suitable for pushchairs beyond the promenade (the park paths are stepped – no source covers pushchairs).
