The most relaxed way into the Riviera's most storied hotel is a table at The Grill. It sits at the lively heart of the Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc, on a grand outdoor terrace above the famous saltwater pool cut into the rocks, with the sea beyond it and the sun setting straight ahead. The hotel has been part of the Cap's legend for some 150 years – the retreat that drew Picasso, Chagall and Scott Fitzgerald, and later the stars of the Cannes festival – and The Grill is where that legend is easiest to enjoy: a modern brasserie, open from noon until late, with a fish bar, a salad bar, grilled lobster and a sushi counter on the terrace. Come for a long lunch that drifts into the afternoon, or for dinner as the light turns gold over the water.
Here is the terrace, the menu, the dress code and the best moment to arrive.

01The terrace above the pool
From the white hotel at the top of the park, the Grande Allée runs down between the pines to the sea, and at the bottom lies the scene everyone recognises: the Eden-Roc pavilion, the rocks and the saltwater pool blasted into the shore. The Grill looks straight over it. Lunch here comes with the soundtrack of the pool and the sea; dinner with the sun going down directly in front of you.
02Nautical blues and reds
The designer Patricia Anastassiadis dressed The Grill in nautical blues and reds, a nod to classic Riviera style, and linked the dining areas to the pool and the sea so that the whole place feels open and breezy – less a restaurant than a deck above the water.
Insider tipIn season: lunch 12.00–18.00, dinner 18.00–22.30.
03The menu
Executive chef Sébastien Broda oversees one menu for lunch and dinner, in the spirit of a modern brasserie. There is a fish bar of ceviche, carpaccio, tartare and marinated catch of the day; a salad bar that runs from a classic niçoise to king crab; and mains such as cod with Provençal aïoli, Irish Angus entrecôte, vitello tonnato and grilled lobster. A sushi counter on the terrace serves at lunch and dinner.

04When to go
In season The Grill serves every day, lunch from noon to 18.00 and dinner from 18.00 to 22.30. Outside guests are welcome subject to availability, so book ahead in summer. A late lunch that drifts into the afternoon is the classic; for dinner, arrive before sunset. The hotel is seasonal – in 2026 The Grill closed for the winter in mid-October – so check the new season's dates.
05The house rules
By day the dress code is smart casual; in the evening it is elegant, with trousers and closed shoes for men. Only phones may be used for photographs, and no photos are allowed in the park or on the Grande Allée. It is all part of what keeps the Hôtel du Cap the Hôtel du Cap.
