The film festival is only one of the events that fill the Palais des Festivals. From series and games in February to MIPIM, the Lions, the yachts and MIPCOM, here is the Cannes year for 2027 – and what each event means for visitors and residents.

Few towns of its size host as many international events as Cannes. Almost all of them take place in the same building at the western end of the Croisette, the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès, and between them they set the rhythm of the town: when hotels fill up, when restaurants are hard to book and when the Croisette belongs to the locals again.

A few events are open to everyone; most of the big trade fairs are for accredited professionals. Here is the 2027 calendar as published at the end of October 2026, with what each event means for a visitor or a resident.

01Winter: series and games

The year begins with Canneseries, the international series festival, which holds its 10th edition from 11 to 16 February 2027 in the Palais's Grand Auditorium, the Espace Miramar and other venues around town. A fortnight later the Festival International des Jeux, the games festival, celebrates its 40th edition from 26 to 28 February, with 60,000 square metres of exhibition space and some 5,000 professionals – publishers, authors, distributors and illustrators – alongside its public days.

02Spring: property and film

In March the Palais turns to real estate. MIPIM, the international property market, runs from 15 to 19 March 2027 and brings around 20,000 participants from 90 countries, according to the Palais des Festivals; entry is on accreditation.

Insider tip

Watch the summer fireworks from the Croisette – no ticket is needed.

Then comes the event that made the town famous: the 80th Festival de Cannes, from 11 to 22 May 2027. Tickets are not sold, but the open-air screenings of the Cinéma de la Plage on the beach are free and open to all.

03Summer: the Lions and the fireworks

In June the advertising and creative industries arrive for Cannes Lions, the International Festival of Creativity, from 21 to 25 June 2027: more than 15,000 participants from over 100 countries and some 20,000 works entered each year, according to the town's tourist office.

Through July and August, the Palais des Festivals stages the Festival d'Art Pyrotechnique over the bay, a competition between fireworks companies from around the world that it has organised since 1967. In 2026 there were six shows between 4 July and 24 August, each at least twenty minutes long and judged on music, aesthetics and technique for the Vestale d'Or. They are free, need no ticket and can be postponed if the wind or the swell is too strong. The 2027 programme had not been published at the end of October 2026.

04Autumn: yachts and television

September belongs to the boats: the Cannes Yachting Festival fills the Vieux Port and Port Canto with some 700 yachts from 7 to 12 September 2027, with tickets sold online to the public. In October the television industry gathers for MIPCOM, the market for audiovisual content, whose 43rd edition runs from 18 to 21 October 2027.

05What it means for a stay

During the film festival, the Lions, MIPIM and the Yachting Festival, hotels and restaurants are at their busiest; book early, or choose the weeks in between, when the town returns to its own pace. For residents, the free events – the Cinéma de la Plage and the summer fireworks – are the ones to put in the diary.
