The French Alps are one of the regions of France where the Guide Michelin awards the most stars outside the cities. The 2026 guide was presented in Monaco on 16 March 2026. In Savoie and Haute-Savoie there are four restaurants with three stars: Le 1947 à Cheval Blanc in Courchevel, Flocons de Sel in Megève, Le Clos des Sens in Annecy and, new this year, Les Morainères in the wine district of Jongieux.
The review below is based on the Guide Michelin's own listings, checked on 25 October 2026, for the ski resorts of the Tarentaise and the Mont Blanc area and for Lake Annecy. Several of the restaurants in the ski resorts are only open in the winter season, and some close between seasons – always check before booking.
01Three and two stars
02Le 1947 à Cheval Blanc, Courchevel – three stars
Yannick Alléno's restaurant at Cheval Blanc Courchevel is the most famous Michelin-starred restaurant in the French ski resorts. It is in the hotel at the Jardin Alpin in Courchevel 1850 and is only open in winter. Michelin classes the cuisine as creative.
The restaurant is small, and tables are booked well in advance for Christmas, New Year and February.
03Flocons de Sel, Megève – three stars
Emmanuel Renaut's restaurant lies just outside Megève, surrounded by the Mont Blanc massif. The cuisine is built on produce from the mountains and lakes of Savoie, and Michelin classes it as modern. Flocons de Sel is one of the reasons Megève has a gastronomic reputation that reaches far beyond the ski resort.
04Le Clos des Sens, Annecy – three stars
Le Clos des Sens is in Annecy, near the lake. Michelin classes the cuisine as creative. The restaurant is one of the reasons Annecy and its lake have become a gastronomic destination in their own right, with more stars along the shores than most ski resorts.
05Les Morainères, Jongieux – three stars
This year's newcomer among the three-star restaurants is in Jongieux in Savoie, one of the department's wine areas. The restaurant received its third star in the 2026 guide. It lies among the vineyards beyond the mountains and is a good reason to stay the night on the way to or from the ski resorts.
06Sylvestre Wahid – Les Grandes Alpes, Courchevel – two stars
Sylvestre Wahid's restaurant at the hotel Les Grandes Alpes is in the heart of Courchevel 1850. Michelin classes the cuisine as creative. It is one of two two-star restaurants in Courchevel in 2026.
07Slalom 1850, Courchevel – two stars
The other two-star restaurant in Courchevel 1850 is Slalom 1850, whose cuisine Michelin classes as creative. Together with Le 1947 and the four one-star restaurants, it makes Courchevel the ski resort with the most stars in our review.
08René et Maxime Meilleur, Saint-Martin-de-Belleville – two stars
Father and son Meilleur run the restaurant at the family's hotel La Bouitte in Saint-Martin-de-Belleville, at the bottom of the Belleville valley. The cuisine is creative but deeply rooted in Savoie. The village has lifts straight into Les 3 Vallées, and the family also runs the simpler restaurant Simple et Meilleur in the village.
09Around Lake Annecy – four restaurants with two stars
Lake Annecy has four two-star restaurants in 2026: Jean Sulpice at the Auberge du Père Bise in Talloires-Montmin, L'Auberge de Montmin in the same commune, La Table de Yoann Conte at La Maison Bleue in Veyrier-du-Lac and Maison Benoît Vidal in Annecy. Together with Le Clos des Sens and the one-star Le Sketch and La Rotonde des Trésoms, they make the lake one of the most star-studded corners of France.
